The Ruby Cow

This is the first in a series of guest blogs from our fav clients, colleagues and contacts. We asked them to write about a new term which for them sums up how people do business now. When we read Jo’s blog we almost didn’t post it, as it’s more of a testimonial than a blog. But, although it’s about us, we hope there are more general thoughts to draw from it!
For us one thing that struck us is that you never know what makes people recommend you unless you ask them. Thanks Jo!

“I am an avid listener of business books – usually whilst editing images or doing boring chores like housework! One of the first books I listened to was Purple Cow by Seth Rodin. In case you haven’t heard of it (and in which case I implore you to go and seek out a copy right now) the ethos behind the book is if you see lots of the same thing – such as a gorgeous Friesian cow – you might comment on the first one but soon it becomes commonplace and you kind of ignore it. However, if you saw a purple cow you would comment on it, right? You’d be on the phone telling your cow-loving friends and mentioning it down the pub or whilst chatting in the dinner queue in the canteen.
A purple cow would be truly REMARKable!

I have been working with Isla from Ruby Star Associates for about 9 months now and I can tell you that she is truly REMARKable. I have long since called her my Ruby Cow! From the skype headphones, Dr Seuss compulsory reading materials, gingerbread men and “Hang in There” postcards when the going got seriously tough, Isla’s actions whilst influencing and improving my business have been truly worth mentioning and I refer her to many business contacts I come across. I should be on commission!”
