Blog 1 – Blogging
One of the ways in which we support our clients is in understand how they can do more to attract clients to them, rather than having to track potential clients down. We talk alot of about leading through influence and the ways in which you can create expert-status for yourself or your brand. This series looks at some of the things you can do to share your expertise and position yourself as a leader in your field.
Blogging can be a great way to give people a sense of what you are about, how you approach topics and what your style is. Giving a people a flavour of how you work allows them to “try before they buy” and can help to filter out the prospects that aren’t going to respond to your style or approach.
Make sure:
- Your blogs offer value – give tips, and provide information which is of real use to people reading it.
- You aren’t bland: take a position on issues, express opinions
- You provide evidence: if you say you can do something or that something works, provide evidence to back up your claims.
- You share: tweet, facebook, Linkedin, email – get word out to people, and if your content is shareable, even better.
- You factor your blog into your PR approach: a well read blog is a great tool in gaining PR, and sample blogs can be used to gain guest blog, article-writing or public speaking opportunities.
- You stick with it: opt for a schedule of blogging that you can stick to – whether you blog daily, weekly or monthly, consistency is best.
- You spell and grammar check. Obv.
- The tone works: Blogs should fit your brand- think about the tone of voice that fits you and your brand and stick to it.
So, if this isn’t something that you are already doing, why not give it a try? We’d love to hear how you get on- and we are always here if you get stuck, tweet us @rubystartweet or drop us a line at tellmemore@rubystarassociates.co.uk/dev and we’ll see if we can unstick you
