So… you want to make some cold calls to generate some leads, here are some practical tips to help you out.
1. Set aside a decent amount of time – ideally a day.
2. Have all the numbers and research to hand before you start – as soon as you start, doing a bit more research on the internet will always be more tempting than picking up the phone.
3. Keep hydrated – this will keep you alert and stop your voice sounding too tired.
4. Plan breaks – if you are doing a whole day of calling, we’d suggest you work 10-12 and 2-4 with breaks in between.
5. Be realistic – if you set aside a day for calling you should be able to make 50-70 calls, and from that can expect to secure 1-4 appointments.
6. Remember why you do what you do… if you have a super hero mission (link) have it to hand.
7. Put the bottle of wine/cake/dvd you’ve selected as a reward for your hard work somewhere that you can see it!
