4 ways to find more time

This week we have heard a lot of people saying they simply can’t find the time to do the things that matter to their business. So, we’ve come up with a few suggestions of where to find some extra time, and what to do with it, If you have other, better ideas, please share them using the form below.

1. In the car. Lots of us feel that we spend too long in our cars; put the motorway to use. If you are a fan of business books, get them on CD (you can either get hold of them through your local library), use 2/3 of your journey to listen to part of the book, and 1/3 of it deciding what actions you need to take away from it to apply to your organisation. As soon you get to your destination spend a couple of minutes jotting down the actions you’ve agreed for yourself.

2. Out for a walk, or jog. Now, given how many of us claim we can’t find time for exercise, this one is a bit of a stretch, but, if you are out walking the dog, or going for a run, give yourself a mini-coaching session. As you warm up identify an issue for your organisation; use your run, walk or jog to come up with as many solutions as possible for that issue, no matter how wild or unachievable some will be; As you cool down, set yourself some actions, even if it is only to investigate some of the options more.

3. Keep your business books in the bathroom. Or, keep a printed copy of your forward order pipeline in there; for some people the bathroom is the best place to clear a blockage in your pipeline!

4. Make sales calls when you are waiting for your computer to do something. If you’ve ever wondered how much time you spend staring at that little hourglass on screen waiting for your computer to do something, apparently the answer is: Keep a list of companies you’d love to work with next to your computer, when you see the dreaded hourglass, call one and try and get a meeting. What’s the worst that could happen?
