Big Business Rule No 8
Be Dispensable

This rule, is very closely related to the previous rule, but requires a different way of thinking. You need to be completely dispensable in your business. Now, before you pack your briefcase and head our the door, bear in mind that this is an eventual goal. But, you do need to keep it at the forefront of your mind. Are you doing enough to create processes which exist outside individuals? If you get hit by a bus, would your business be able to keep going? For a day? For a week? Forever?

Big Businesses can’t afford to develop indispensable individuals. Small businesses can’t afford it either.
