What is the biggest constraint for your business? Are you sure? Twice recently we’ve met businesses who were worried about specific constraints which they faced – in both cases those constraints had the potential to be a real strength and differentiator in their market. Here’s an example, one business was a one-person business who felt constrained because they worked unusual hours to accommodate their own family life. She offered professional services, in many cases to other people facing (but pretending not to) a similar constraints. Acknowledging this and being unashamed of it presented a real opportunity to work with other people who like her, wanted to do some of their work in the early evening, outside standard office hours – a real differentiator in a market where most doors shut at 5.30pm. Do you feel that there is something holding you back? Can you turn it into a feature? If you aren’t sure how to, drop us a line, tweet us or call us, and we’ll see if we can give you some ideas.
