Many of our clients are reluctant to sell on eBay (Amazon, Etsy, NOTHS and other virtual market places), they are under the impression it will damage their brand or undermine their business and image that they have worked so hard to build. Yet the majority of the high street retailers are using the well-known internet auction sites to increase their sales including Argos, Tesco, Debenhams and Sports Direct.

eBay has 150 million active users  – how many customers does your database have? Surely the bigger the customer database – the higher potential of sales?

Yes there are marketplace fees but consider the costs of running your own website – hosting costs, promotion costs, your time.

Before you rule out online market places, make sure you know the cost of your sales through your existing channels – including how much it costs you to reach your target customers.
